I don't think you'll find a mismatched bolt from the factory, although human mistakes are inevitably made, so it is not beyond the realm of possibility. Replacement bolts were available at one time, and you'd be amazed how many bolts are lost by owners who, for whatever reason, separate their rifles and bolts when the guns are stored. Yet another category is rifles with factory replacement bolts. Since the actions came in the white, and bolt SN's are engraved after bluing, it makes sense that they lack the SN's.Īnother category of numberless bolts are reblue jobs which buff the etched SN off of the bolt. Most of the Sako bolts I have seen without serial numbers (or partial serial numbers) have been those on custom rifles which were built from actions-only.
